Centre for Molecular Genetics

The Centre for Molecular Genetics (CMG) is an institute for basic and applied research in Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering at the University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan. Exploration of the natural biological phenomena and contribution of genetics to biological macro- and micro-organisms is focus of scientific activities at the centre. Research projects encompass bacterial genetics and exploitation of microbiological phenomenon for biotechnological solutions and the genetics of human disease and genotyping. The centre is well equipped for research in molecular biology and genetics, recombinant DNA technology, biotechnology, microbiology and chemical analysis. A small in-house library is dedicated to literature on subjects under investigation.
