Professor Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, has joined the Institute in 1990 and serving in various capacities since last 25 years and the now became the senior most faculty of the Institute. He was the longest serving Director of the Institute. He has done his Ph.D on low cost wastewater treatment technology and has considerable experience on recycling and reuse of wastewater specially in water scarce areas. Currently he has been engaged in working on climate change and security problems in the region. He has organized many national and international seminars, workshops and lectures, many of these have been sponsored by the World Health Organization. He is also local tutor of CLIMA; A project of the European Commission on global climate change. Recently he has completed a collaborative project through DelPHE in which University of Oxford and Dhaka University are the collaborating partners. He is also the founder member of SANSaC (South Asian Network on Security and Climate Change) through which he is conducting a project on climate change and security issues in Pakistan funded by International Alert UK. He has authored more than eighty research papers which have been published in national and international journals. He has traveled extensively and has presented his research findings in many international forums.

Prof. Dr Omm-e-Hany, joined the Institute in 2001. She has done her Ph.D in Microbiology from University of Karachi. Her research during past years has focused on biological and biochemical effects of environmental contaminants. Her key areas of study included environmental issues pertaining to public health and hygiene. Presently she is working on the biodegradation of toxic pollutants having significant impact on environment. |

Dr. Farrakh holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from France and Post-docs from Germany and Australia. He is working as Associate Professor in the institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi since 27-01-2023. He has also served as ex-Chairman, Department of Forestry and Range Management, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. With his research. he aims to promote sustainable forestry management and environmental amelioration in Pakistan. In his studies, he investigates the environmental services of trees, such as but not limited to climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration by integrated land use, phytoremedial potential of trees for reclaiming degraded soils and the impact of mechanized operations in forests. |

Dr. Suraiya Jabeen’s area of research focuses on Bioremediation of Hazardous Waste, Water and wastewater, Industrial Pollution management, Public Health & Hygiene. She teaches variety of interdisciplinary subjects of Environment and Integrated Waste Management. She is working as an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Environmental Studies (I.E.S), University of Karachi. She did Masters and Ph.D from I.E.S, UoK and associated with University of Karachi since 2004. |

Dr. Waqar Ahmed is Assistant Professor in the Institute. He has done his Masters and PhD in Environmental Studies on ecology of mangroves. His field of expertise is ecology of mangroves, coastal pollution, wildlife, air pollution and noise. He has completed various professional training courses in the country and abroad. Before joining the Institute, he served in IUCN The World Conservation Union. |

Ms Noor Fatima has done Masters from the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi in 2008. She has joined this Institute as a lecturer in 2012 and currently enrolled at M.Phil/PhD program in the University of Karachi. Since then she has been involved in several research projects related to environmental microbiology and waste management. She has also served as an Environmental Scientist (2008-2012) in Environmental Management Consultants (EMC). Her field of interest is environmental biotechnology, environmental management and clean development mechanism. |

Dr. Aamir Alamgir is Assistant Professor in the Institute. Aamir Alamgir, a graduate of Institute of Environmental Studies University of Karachi joined the institute as full time cooperative teacher in 2009. Recently he has been awarded Ph. D degree on climate change issues. He has developed his vast expertise in the field of climate change. Dr. Aamir also completed DelPHE British Council Project on "Unprotected coastal sites of high ecological values in Pakistan and Bangladesh"as a Research Associate. |

Ms. Humaira Kanwal has joined as Lecturer in the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi in 2016. She had completed her Masters from this Institute in 2011 and stood second in order of merit in her class. Before joining the Institute she has been working in the field of Environment, Health and Safety at The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH). She was acting as Secretary to the Safety Committee as well as key member of the Committee in planning, development and monitoring of all EHS Management Programs, Policies, Procedures and Guidelines as per JCIA, ISO & Other legal requirements. She was acting as Chairperson of Safety Coordinators Forum for Implementation of all EHS Management programs, through Safety Coordinators at departmental level. |
