KU Students Secured Third Position at a Competition at NUST Islamabad

University of Karachi students won third price in the category of Physical Sciences and Agricultural sciences at All Pakistan DICE-NUST 2016 event held at NUST Islamabad. The project team consisted of the students of Chemistry and Applied Physics department of the varsity Umair Ahmed Khan, Amjad Ilyas, Shoiab and Kashif Riaz. More than 60 universities of the country and 300 projects were displayed in four different categories. Students Advisor, University of Karachi Dr. Ghazal Khawaja Humayun congratulated the students for winning the award and added that KU has a history of grooming and making their students ready to face professional challenges.

A program on Role of Nab in preventing Corruption organized by Karachi University Department of Public Administration (DPA) will be held today Thursday 22nd December 2016 at 11:00 am at KIBGE Auditorium KU. Additional Director, Investigation Wing, NAB Mr. Tariq Butt will highlight the role of NAB against corruption. Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences KU and Chairman DPA Prof. Dr. Shabibul Hasan will also address on the occasion.

Workshop on "Modern Tools and Techniques in Health and Disease"

Dr. A.Q. Khan Winter School, Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering(KIBGE) Karachi University is organizing a three day workshop on "Modern Tools and Techniques in Health and Disease" from December 21-23 2016. The inaugural session of the workshop will be held today 21st December 2016 at 08:30 am at KIBGE, Karachi University. Meritorious Professor and Director KIBGE Dr. Abid Azhar will give the welcome address. National and international trainers including Dr. Muhammad Ismail, Dr. Abdul Hameed, Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Prof. Dr. Shamshad Zareena and others will deliver training sessions on DNA Extraction and sample collection, Data mining, primer designing, optimization and PCR troubleshooting, Demonstration on Polymerase Chain Reaction, PCR Purification and different scientific procedures.
Debate Competition

KU Students Advisor Dr. Ghazal Khawaja has notified that due to over whelming response in Urdu debate competition, the office of students' advisor is conducting a screening process, now the competition will be held in 2 rounds. The first round of screening will be held on Tuesday 20th December 2016 at Physiology department auditorium from 10.00 am onwards. All the debaters who have applied must come for the first round. Final round of debate competition will be held on Thursday 22nd December 2016 at Arts Auditorium KU as per schedule.

KUMUN Annual Conference entitled "DPAMUN"

Karachi University Model United Nations Society (KUMUN Society) in collaboration with Department of Public Administration (DPA) KU is organizing annual three days KUMUN Conference entitled "DPA Model United Nations 2016" from 11th November to 13th November 2016 at DPA KU. Contemporary global and national issues especially Kashmir issue will be discussed in the conference. Moreover, a resolution will be passed condemning the Indian illegal occupation and human rights violations in Kashmir. The conference will recommend proposals for the peaceful resolution of the global and national conflicts/issues to the United Nations and the national stakeholders. Karachi University Model United Nations Society is the only student led Model United Nations (MUN) Society of the country that has been recognized and applauded for its performance by the United Nations itself.

International Conference on the Challenges of Social and Human Development

Under the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Karachi and the Higher Education Commission, an International Conference on The Challenges of Social and Human Development will be held in the Arts Auditorium on November 26-27, 2016. Renowned experts from Pakistan and abroad shall participate in that conference. Apart from the inaugural session, the conference will have 19 plenary and 30 parallel sessions on different themes of social and human development whereas, the panel discussion which will be held before the concluding session will be participated by national and international speakers.
