On condition of availability of seats, forms can be obtained and submitted in the respective colleges with a late fee of Rs.1000. Youth Workshop26 March 2012 "Capacity building is imperative for strengthen the Youth community as a whole and increasing its professionalism and effectiveness in every sphere of life. Hence, the need of time is to empower Youth with skills in public outreach and advocacy for the issues related to nation building. Experts identify this as crucial for sustainable development of the country," these views were expressed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaisar during his address to a workshop titled "Youth Workshop", mutually organized by the Department of Public Administration and Ground Breakers Society, here at the campus. Chairperson, Department of Public Administration, Prof. Dr. Khalid Iraqi shed light on the objectives of the workshop and said that the main idea behind organizing the workshop was to empower the young minds of our nation. Meeting of the Academic Council22 March 2012 "University of Karachi will allow all the existing students of BS 1st, 2nd and 3rd year to switch their program from BS to Bachelors (Honors). Semester rules 2002 will be applied on them. However, in order to bring uniformity in the examination and evaluation procedures, passing percentage for both, BS and Bachelors (Honors) Program, will be 45%," this decision has been made in a recent meeting of Academic Council which was chaired by the Vice Chancellor - Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaisar. In the beginning of the meeting, minutes of 5 previous meeting of the Academic Council were approved. Moreover, minutes of 8 meetings of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research had also been approved. Members of the Academic Council collectively gave approval for the five year BA, LLB Honors Program. In the recent meeting of the Academic Council, an approval was given for the affiliation of 23 institutions. Moreover, the Vice Chancellor, while considering the efficiency of teaching and research in the University, suggested that the examinations of BA, B.Sc and B.Com may be conducted in the respective colleges. The decision was highly appreciated by the faculty members. In relation, it was decided that a proper strategy will be devised in a meeting with the college principals. B.Sc. The MoU is designed to foster a friendly relationship through mutual cooperation in the sphere of teaching and scientific research between both the Universities. Three day floral exhibition inaugurated16 March 2012 A three day floral exhibition has been organized by Centre for Plant Conservation, University of Karachi, here on Friday evening. While addressing to the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaisar said that such exhibitions bring us close to nature and provide us the opportunity to praise its beauty. In addition, it also provides an awareness regarding biodiversity and plant conservation. The organizer of the exhibition, Prof. Dr. Anjum – Director Centre for Plant Conservation, informed that more than 2000 species of flowers have been displayed in the exhibition. She added that this exhibition fulfills the main objectives of the Centre of Plant Conservation which include the facilitation in providing awareness in the field of plant conservation. This is the first time that such exhibition has been arranged by the University. The exhibition will continue till 20th March 2012. A worth mentioning fact is that the exhibition is exhibited not only for University stakeholders but for common citizens of Karachi as well.
