Inaugural of "Developing Nation builders and Entrepreneurs for Future"

The inauguration ceremony of the program entitled "Developing Nation builders and Entrepreneurs for Future" organized by ORIC, University of Karachi will be held on 17th February 2017 at 9:00 am at HEJ auditorium, University of Karachi. Dean faculty of science KU Prof. Dr. Syed Afrozuddin will preside over the ceremony while Dean and Director IBA, Karachi Dr. Farrukh Iqbal, Dr. Shahid Qureshi and Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Aliya Rehman will also deliver the address.

National Seerat Conference

National Seerat Conference entitled " Regional and International Conflicts and their resolutions in the perspectives of Seerat-e-Tayyaba is being organized by Seerat Chair, Faculty of Islamic Studies Karachi University and Higher Education Commission on January 28th 2017 at Arts Auditorium, KU. Vice Chancellor KU Professor Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan will preside while Director General at Islamic Research Institute, International Islamic University, Islamabad Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq and former federal minister Dr. Haji Hanif Tayyab will be the chief guests.

ISHU UoK Celebrated 11th Foundation Day

ISHU-The Institute of Sustainable Halophyte Utilization, University of Karachi celebrated its 11th Foundation Day on Friday January 20th, 2017. On this occasion, Quran khawani was held at the Institute. Distinguished National Professor, Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan (Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz), the founding Director of ISHU celebrated the day with students and faculty by cutting a cake and prayed for its continued success in future. Prof. Ajmal Khan lauded the efforts of the ISHU team in publishing more than 100 peer reviewed research articles, 5 books by international publishers and producing 12 PhD scholars since 2007. He further urged them to continue working hard for the betterment of Karachi University and Pakistan in the scientific arena. Collectively, over 350 publications by Prof. Ajmal Khan and his ISHU team has significantly added to the collective wealth of information on local salt tolerant plants of Pakistan, which are useful as food, fodder, medicine and biofuel. The Director ISHU and faculty members thanked Dr. Ajmal Khan for his efforts in establishing the institute and providing a platform for carrying out high quality research

PCMD Students Wins First Prize

The students of Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi (UoK), received first prize for their innovative project in the national event held in Islamabad, Dr. Iqbal Choudhary informed the participants.
It is pertinent to mention here that the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) organised the national event, entitled "DICE (Distinguished Innovations, Collaboration and Entrepreneurship) Mega Innovation and Entrepreneurship event 2016" on December 21 and 22, 2016, in which around 300 students from different universities across the country participated. The PCMD students won the 1st the prize in the category of biological sciences, medical sciences and veterinary sciences. They presented the project of heart attack detection device. The device presented there was a prototype model. The project was evaluated by different panel of judges. At the closing ceremony, the awards according to categories were distributed. Dr. Panjwani Center received the first prize for aforementioned project. All the participant teams were awarded certificates. Vice Chancellor University of Karachi Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, Patron-in-Chief ICCBS Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman and Director ICCBS-UoK Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary have congratulated the students on their achievement.
